Top Blur/Censor Snapchat Lenses & Filters

What’s Snapchat? It’s a mobile app that lets you share moments with your friends. Essentially how it works is that it allows you to send pictures and videos to other users. Why is it so popular? It comes with many interesting features. Take the “snaps”, for instance—they will self-destruct a few seconds after being viewed. Put it simply, nothing will be stored on their servers; everything will eventually be deleted.

What else can you do on the social platform? Lots. For example, you can start a text chat, share stickers, play games, create stories, and more. There’s even a live map where you can see other users’ locations! Given all that, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular among young people. In the United States alone, there are more than 84 million active users!

Why not blur or censor a part of your snap with one of these Snapchat filters? There are so many to choose from!

1. Draw Your Own Blur Snapchat Lens

Is there a certain part of the screen that you want to blur? If so, definitely check out this filter. How does it work? It’ll let you draw your own blur! That’s right, you can choose exactly where you want it to appear. What’s more, is that you can use it on videos too!

Start by unlocking the snapcode. Once you’ve done that, your camera will switch on. From there, all you have to do is move your finger across the screen—the blur will follow your movements! When you’re finished, snap the picture (or video) of the finished product and show your friends!

2. Censored V2 Snapchat Lens

Want to go for that pixelated effect? Because that’s what this lens is all about! Once unlocked, your selfie camera will turn on. That’s right, you’ll see yourself on the screen! It won’t be what you’re used to, though. You see, the background will be completely censored—that is, all you’ll be able to see are pixelated squares!

What’s that? You want to censor your face instead? No problem. Simply tap on the screen and you’ll be able to change the effect. Before you know it, it’ll be your face that’s pixelated!  Which “mode” will you use for your selfie?

3. Identity Blur Snapcode

Hesitant about showing your face in a snap? No worries—you can just blur it! Take this filter, for instance, it’ll blur your face to the point where no one will know who you are. With that said, you’ll still be able to make out each of your facial features—it just won’t be enough for someone to figure out your identity!

It’s easy to use. Once you’ve unlocked the filter, selfie mode will automatically switch on. Take a look at the screen—your face will already be blurred! Remember, you don’t have to use it for a selfie. You can just as easily use it for a video!

4. Background Blur Snapchat Filter

You know how with some cameras the background shows up blurry? If anything, it kind of adds more depth to the video. Well, guess what? Now you can do that on Snapchat! All you need is this filter. With it, you’ll be able to blur your backgrounds quickly and easily!

Essentially, you just have to scan and unlock the effect. Once you’ve done that, the background will change—that is, whatever’s behind you will be blurred! While the filter works best for selfies, you can also use it with the rear-facing camera. Since you won’t be in the frame, though, everything will be blurry!

5. Motion Blur Snapchat Filter

Looking for a filter that you can use for a snap video? How about this one? It’ll add a motion blur to whatever’s on the screen. Of course, you’ll have to move the camera (or yourself) in order to see the effect. Try it out—a slight blur will appear with every movement!

You can apply the motion blur to your face, to your surroundings, it doesn’t matter. Given how the effect is animated, though, you’ll probably want to use it for a video. After all, that’s what it’s designed for! That’s not to say that you can’t use it for a picture, however—you’ll just have to time it correctly.

6. Eye Censor Snapchat Filter

You know what they say—the eyes are one of the most distinguishing features of the face. Cover them up and people might not be able to tell that it’s you! Is that something that you’re interested in? Well then, this filter might be right up your alley.

As you can see above, the filter will add a stroke of white over your eyes.  In other words, it’ll be censored! Want to change it to black? Just tap on the screen. Feel free to turn your head and move around—the “eye censor” won’t be going away anytime soon. Keep in mind, however, that the rest of your face will still be visible.

7. Radial Blur Snapchat Filter

Are you familiar with the term “radial blur”? It’s a type of blurring effect in which an image blurs outwards from a single point (usually from the middle). In some cases, it can make it look as if your picture is spinning!

Want to add that to your snap? Then what are you waiting for? Unlock the snapcode! Do that, tap on the screen, and the effect will activate. Before you know it, the image will be super blurry! Not to the point where you can’t make out what’s on the screen, though. You’ll still be able to tell what you’re pointing your camera at!

8. Bad Signal Snapcode

Remember how TVs used to get static-y back in the day? Well, you’ll be able to see that again with this filter! Once activated, your face will be completely covered in black. If you look closely, though, you’ll notice that it’s actually the “bad signal” screen. Yup, there will be static and noise!

Perhaps even more interesting, is the fact that the “censor” effect is animated. In other words, you’ll actually be able to see the static and lines move. Given that, it might be best to use this filter for a video! That’s not to say that you can’t use it to cover up your face in a selfie, though.

9. Smoke Head Snapchat Filter

Here’s a different type of “censor” lens. As you can see above, no one will be able to tell who you are. After all, your face (or should I say head?) will be completely covered with black smoke! As a matter of fact, smoke will constantly be released from your head!

The only thing that you’ll be able to see will be your eyes—and even those won’t be your real eyes. If anything, they’re more like glowing circles! It kind of gives it an eerie vibe, really. Still, you have to admit—the filter does a good job of hiding your face!

10. No Face Snapchat Filter

Don’t want to show your face? Then don’t show it—you can easily hide it altogether with this filter! What do I mean? Just look at the example above. As you can see, it’ll wipe everything off your face—your eyes, nose, mouth, everything will be gone. All that’s left will be skin.

You have to admit, it’s quite an effective way to censor your face. After all, there will be nothing left on it! In other words, people will have to guess who you are based on the shape of your head. Will they be able to do that? There’s only one way to find out!

11. Blocked Snapchat Filter

This filter will block you from appearing on the screen altogether. You’ll still be able to take a snap of yourself but no one will be able to tell that it’s you in the frame! Why? You’ll be covered in grey! Not just your face, but your body as well.

If anything, people will be able to see your presence, but not your identity. It doesn’t matter whether you move around or not either—your face and body will be covered either way! Considering that, you can easily use it for a video. No matter how you move, you’ll still be a grey silhouette. But that’s the whole point of the effect, right?

12. I Am 8 Bit Snapchat Filter

Are you into retro video games? If so, you might like this “censor” filter. You see, it’ll turn you into an 8-bit image! In other words, your face and body will be completely pixelated. Not only that, but you’ll get a pair of “googly” eyes. It’s pretty much what you’d look like if you were in one of those old games!

What’s more, is that the filter will also add a backdrop! It’s animated too. It’s hard to say what exactly is in the background but it definitely adds some color and life to the screen! Why not try it for yourself and see? For the best results, we suggest that you take a video with it!
